2/, to potential snow. what are we getting? >> we are getting all of that, but in terms of accumulation, not a lot. you have to go up an elevation before anything will stick. and the low temperatures above 50 degrees right now. that really tells you something. 49 degrees right now. the wind chill at 39. live super doppler is starting to put up a little bit of moisture. it is what we call virga, which evaporates before it gets to the surface. we will have to wait until the middle of the afternoon before we start to get more of this moisture pushing into the area. it should start as rain for everybody with a mix, and then change over to snowfall. this is just one computer forecast, but it has a good handle on this storm.

pedestrian accident this morning. traffic was backed up for nearly a mile at new york avenue and montana avenue during this morning's commute. a person was hit while crossing the street just before 5:00 a.m. this morning. that person later died. the driver did stay at the scene. no word yet on any charges. >> investigators are trying to determine what caused the fatal health -- fatal fire in charles county. firefighters had to battle the blaze from outside the home because of dangerous conditions inside. authorities discovered the body of 66-year-old geraldine key inside. >> we had numerous companies from the area respond. we had about 50 firefighters here that assisted in extinguishing the blaze. >> it took over an hour to get a fire under control. one firefighter was treated for minor burns on his right arm. >> after last night's state of the union address, the president is heading to north carolina to

bus last me -- last week investigators say that the 7- year-old student took the gun out of his backpack and pointed it at students. no one was injured. >> investigators in california are staying tight-lipped about a shootout with a man believed to be former l.a. police officer christopher dorner. but there are clues that the charred body found in the cabin is, indeed, his. >> the manhunt for accused cop killer, christopher dorner, now centers on this burned out cabin in the mountains east of los angeles. overnight, a charred body was removed from home. police believe it could be that of dorner, but they're waiting on dna. >> the lapd is not keep dental records. there will be other measures to identify that individual. >> what they can confirm this afternoon is that hit california

driver's license was found inside that burned cabin with the body. after days on the run, witnesses said they spotted him tuesday afternoon not far from where the burned out truck was found last thursday. authorities say the suspect felt -- held two women hostage in a home. one of the victims was j. hilton's wife. >> he tied them up and as far as we know, they're ok. >> after a police chase, he ditched the car and took off on foot. it led to a shootout. >> unfortunately, one of our deputies passed away as a result of his injuries. >> more shots were fired. then came the massive fire. the fbi has been brought in to identify the remains. officials say if he had an accomplice, they will bring a person to justice. -- that person to justice.

>> the world is coming to grips with the pope's recently announced resignation he made an appearance this morning. it will be the last formal church celebration for the 85- year-old pontiff. he explained that he is retiring, in full liberty and for the good of the church. he said his advanced age is making it difficult to fulfill his duties. >> churches across our region will be open for today's ash wednesday services. it is the mark of the start of lent. for those who cannot make it to the church, some priests are administering at some metro stations. >> there is a lot of gratitude that this is available to them. we're encouraging people to go to church as well.

anything in d.c. if we're lucky, we might get a bit of a trace on the back about a quarter of an inch, we think. maybe a half an inch here. a few places could get up to an inch. elevation is the key this time around. we are just too warm to get much out of this. what a beautiful view. this is a time last in -- a timelines view in arlington. you can see that we started out with midlevel clouds. 42 degrees and overcastif we're lucky, we might get a bit of a trace on the back about a quarter of an inch, we think. in frederick. 38 in hagerstown. 41 in winchester. most of what you are seeing right here in west virginia, this is not reaching the ground. you have to get into hot springs, va., before it any reports of snow. cloudy skies today with rain by the middle of the afternoon.
